How do I buy a plaque for someone?
There are two options for purchasing a Digital Memorial Plaque as a gift. You can order the plaque from our website (http://www.digitalmemorialplaque.com) and have it shipped to you or have it shipped to the person you purchased the gift for. We do not provide a gift wrapping service and recommend that you have the plaque shipped to you.
What happens if I need to return or change the plaque?
In the unlikely case of needing to return a plaque and box please email us for a return authorization code and instructions. We only allow for returns of damaged or defective items. All plaques have been tested prior to distribution.
How long will the plaque last?
The accelerated tests we have done suggest several hundred years in normal outdoor weather conditions based on Northern Europe. We expect the plaque to last for at least 100 years, but the time may vary depending on the weather conditions.
Does the plaque work with languages other than English?
Yes, if you require a plaque engraved in a different language, please email us first to discuss your request.
How does the code scan?
The code is a QR code, which is engraved into the plaque and read by a QR code reader on any Smartphone, tablet or scanning technology. QR code readers are freely available from any app store just search ‘QR reader’. You do not need to pay for these. Technology will change and we will change our systems to ensure your loved one legacy is always available.
Can I use the plaque if my loved one or family member passed away some time ago?
Yes, there are no limitations or restrictions family members or loved ones who have passed away some time ago can be memorialized and the plaque used or attached.
Can I change what opens when the code is scanned?
Yes you can, at any point in time we can redirect the code to a new destination.
Can I have the plaque personalized with my ‘loved ones’ name?
Yes, if you purchase a custom plaque we will carry out this automatically. If you have purchased or been given a standard plaque but require and custom plaque, email us and we can upgrade you for a small charge.
Do you offer a complete set up service?
Yes, once you have purchased the plaque we can help you setup the memorial for a small fee. Please email us for more details.
Can I get different sizes, colors or materials of plaques?
Custom sizes and colors may be available depending on your requirements. Please email us to discuss a custom plaque.
Can I have the code engraved directly onto a gravestone?
Yes, we can supply an image of the QR Code and plaque. However, we cannot arrange the engraving and you will need to speak with a monument company.
Where can I use the plaque?
The plaques are designed to be located in any special place regarding a loved one. On the gravestone, memorial stone, a wall, a bench, a tree or any special place. Ensure you have permission to locate the plaque at your desired location. Ensure the plaque is secured in position.
How do I attach the plaque?
Ensure the surface is clean, dry and flat. Attach the plaque with bonding adhesive (i.e. super glue) or drill small screw holes in the corner of the plaque – take care not to damage the plaque. Please follow manufacturer’s instructions in any situation. We cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by attaching the plaque. Always gain the owners or relevant authorities permission to attach or position the plaque. Do not try to bend the plaque as it is made of brittle material and will break.
Can I put my plaque anywhere?
Yes, if you have permission of the landowner or authority yes. To work the location should have basic signal strength to enable the Internet to load on a smartphone
What if another family member or friends wants another plaque with a different website
This is perfectly ok. Sometimes family will want to manage multiple memorial websites for the deceased person. Note that each plaque can only link to a single memorial website.
Can the plaque be used for my pets?
Yes the plaques can and are used in pet cemeteries or a special place (with the owners or authorities permission) to remember and celebrate the lives of pets. The process is exactly the same.
Do I need an email address?
Yes, it’s very important that you have an email address on your account. That will allow us to contact you in case of any changes and will be used for you to manage the memorial website.
What happens when I pass away or become too old to administer?
The best solution is to ask a family member or members to take control of the process and inform us via email of the new administrator. It is possible to change the administrator or add additional administrators to your account at any time.
Can I link to my loved ones Facebook or other social networking sites?
Yes you can, but access is often restricted to existing friends and the site may have to be memorialized by the website owner. We recommend that you link to the social networks from the memorial website, which is guaranteed to remain online permanently.
Can I have more than one plaque?
Yes, this is common practice. You can position a plaque on a memorial stone and on a tree for example. We can link each of the plaques to the same memorial website.
Can I change the site where my plaque opens?
Yes, if you decide you want people to see another tribute site please email us the new link. We cannot accept any responsibility for the content of the site launched outside our control.
What happens if technology changes?
The technology to connect the real world to the virtual will in some way always exist and we are committed to keeping your loved ones legacy accessible. We will upgrade our systems and plaques and inform you of any changes.
What do we do if the plaque doesn’t work or breaks?
All plaques have been quality tested before distribution. If for any reason they fail to scan with the appropriate signal and equipment then we will ask you to either send the plaque back or take a picture of the code on the plaque and send us an email. Will send you a replacement plaque.
How long will the memorial website be online for?
If you purchase a Digital Memorial Plaque with a Memorial Website, the memorial website will remain online permanently.
Is there any reason way you would not load information or need take a site down?
Yes, if we deem the information unsuitable, if there is public concern about the information, if the there are technical problems outside our control, if public authorities such as the police or government request.
Can I use the plaque if I already administer a memorial site?
Yes we simply divert the plaque to load your other memorial website, but we cannot be responsible for others sites content.
Can other people such as family members contribute to the life story?
Yes, anyone can contribute content to the website. There is certain content that only the website administrator can modify, but it is easy to add other people as administrators.
How often can I change or add to the details?
You can change information as often as you like. Simply login to your account at Your Tribute and modify the memorial website.
How do I protect against any malicious comments?
It is up to you to moderate the comments on your memorial website. You will receive an email whenever new comments are added and can login and delete a comment if it is inappropriate.
What do I do if I have no digital pictures?
Pictures are a nice additional to a memorial website but not necessary. If you do not have any digital pictures, there are a number of companies that can scan the photos for you.
What sort of information can we include in the Memorial Website?
You can add biographical information, life history, stories, photos, videos, condolences and more.
What is the ‘access code’?
The access code is located on the base of the plaque and is the unique code that links your plaque and your website. It is important to keep a copy of the code secure for future reference.
How do I know that my data added to my tribute will not be lost?
While we ask that you keep your own independent copy of any information you add to your site, we run comprehensive multiple back-ups of all tribute information to help safeguard your memorial website.
What are the Terms and Conditions of using the service?
What if I decide not to continue with my plaque or website?
This is fine. Just remove the plaque from its location and inform us via email that you no longer want the site and we’ll deactivate the link and remove the data.
